William & Mary Weekend

After another snowy week in Boone, ten App State riders traveled up to Williamsburg, Virginia for a great weekend of sunny racing. Saturday morning was the individual time trial held at York River State Park. The 12.5 mile course took its toll on the riders but ASU managed to have some great finishes! Bridgette McLean finished 5th in the Women’s A category, Michael Lowther came out in 5th for Men’s D, and Andrew DeVierScott took 11th place in the Men’s C field. After the time trial, the team had a fun afternoon touring around Colonial Williamsburg and enjoying the warm weather.

Sunday’s road race was flat, fast, and fun. Rachel VandenEnde and Michael Lowther were the first to race at 9am. Rachel had a great race, finishing 6th in the Women’s B field. After a dropped chain at the start of his race, Michael managed to work his way back up to the field and finish 8th for Men’s D. Next up were the Women’s A and Men’s C categories. Bridgette Mclean proved very strong finishing 6th in Women’s A race. After a long morning of waiting around, Michael Koballa finished 14th in the Men’s A field.

The weather finally seems to be warming up a bit in the high country. Long rides and funny tan lines are in store. Since the Maryland races have been cancelled, next race up is UVA/VCU on March 20th-21st. Happy spring break!

Navy Crit and Time Trial

Only two ASU riders made the long trip up to Annapolis, MD for the Navy races this past weekend - Brad Kendall and Olu Ogunlela. Brad finished 9th in the Men's A crit and had two 2nd place primes. Olu finished 24th in the Men's D crit. The 17.5 mile time trial was held on Sunday. Brad finished 4th for Men's A and Olu somehow managed to finish the same as he did in the crit, 24th place in Men's D.

Next weekend ASU will have a much larger crowd traveling to William and Mary located in Williamsburg, VA. Cross your fingers for some warm weather. As always, we'll keep you posted.
